3 students killed, two injured in mishap

Three students, including a girl, were killed on the spot, while two others sustained injuries, as the car they were travelling in turned turtle near the office of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) at Dattagalli on the Ring Road in the city on Wednesday.

The over-speeding car hit the divider and turned turtle on the other side of the road before crashing into an electricity pole.

The victims have been identified as Mohammad Farhan (21), son of Nasrulla of Hunsur, Syed Asim (21), son of S M Sajjad of N R
Mohalla, and Divya (20), daughter of Veeresh of TK Layout.

The injured are Reyan ul Rehman, 22, of Hunsur, and Spoorthi, 21, of Kuvempu Nagar. The injured have been admitted to Apollo BGS Hospital. Reyan was driving the car. The victims were students of different colleges, pursuing different courses.

Kuvempu Nagar traffic police said, the car was bound towards Dattagalli from Bogadi side on the Ring Road and the mishap would have occurred as the driver might have lost control over the speeding vehicle.

The victims said to have had lunch in a hotel in Bogadi before travelling towards Datagalli.
