A press release from the CAMPCO stated that arecanut worth Rs 24.64 crore was purchased from 14,085 farmers of Honnavara, Kumta of Uttara Kannada, and Dakshina Kannada district between February 16 and June 30, which is the cut off date for the scheme. While the government has released a total of Rs 14 crore, CAMPCO has spent Rs 10.65 crore to purchase arecanut, the release added.
