The Maddur Town police have arrested four people and seized four trucks in connection with illegal sand mining near here, on Saturday.
On tip-off, police arrested truck drivers - Sagar and Kumaraswamy and loaders - Tejas and Kumar. Police have seized trucks in K Kodihalli, Kabbare and Hulikere villages and seized sand worth Rs 40,000. Police are searching for other people involved in the case.
The suspects were transporting sand, illegally extracted from the Shimsha riverbed in the trucks. The local court has remanded the arrested in judicial custody.
Police are conducting further investigation.
