Five private complaints were filed before the Lokayukta special court on Thursday against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa in connection with land
denotification. The cases will come up for hearing on October 27.

Complainant Sirajin Basha had filed five separate private complaints against Yeddyurappa on January 22 and 24, 2010 before the court. The then governor H R Bhardwaj had given the sanction to prosecute Yeddyurappa.

However, Yeddyurappa had moved the High Court seeking quashing of complaints challenging the governor’s sanction. The high court had quashed the complaints against the former chief minister.

Basha had moved the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s verdict. However, the Supreme Court upheld the high court’s verdict and had observed that the governor’s decision was illegal.

Basha once again approached governor Vajubhai Vala seeking sanction. The governor clarified that the sanction was not required as Yeddyurappa was no longer a chief minister.
