5 die in lorry-truck collision

The deceased have been identified as Ravi Krishna Pawara (27), Kirankumar Nagaraj Vallur (13), Shidhalingappa (28), Lakshman Satyappa Chavadammanavar (21), all residents of Gubbi, and Shambu Somannavar (26), a resident of Huyilagola village.

All the five deceased were devotees of Ayyappa Swamy and were heading towards Shivananda mutt after finishing prayers at the temple near Gadag Industrial Estate. While three of them died on the spot, two others died at KMC Hospital in Hubli.

Miraculous escape
Kanaka Gurupeeta seer Niranjanandapuri Swamiji had a miraculous escape as the car he was travelling turned turtle near Sahara Nagar close to Hyderabad on Monday. However, the driver of the car, Ravi Pujara (28) was killed in the mishap. It is said that the seer, along with Eshwaranandapuri Swamiji of Hosadurga had been to Kumbha Mela near Hyderabad.
