A man hacked five members of his family to death at Kampli in Ballari district on Saturday. The assailant Thippayya (40) has surrendered to the police.
The deceased have been identified as Thippayya’s wife Fakeeramma (36), her sister Gangamma (30) and children Bassamma (10), Raju (8) and Pavithra (6). While the first four died on the spot, Pavithra died at the Kampli government hospital. Another daughter, Rajeshwari survived as she had been to her relative’s house. Police officials visited the spot.
