The project was approved by State-unit president of the association, Punati Sridhar.

“In this part of the project, approval has been granted for 97 of the 194 lakes identified in five taluks in the district,” he said. Among the tanks granted approval for development are 12 each in Kolar, Mulbagal, Malur, 28 in Bangarpet and 13 in Srinivasapur.

As a part of the project, encroachments will be cleared. “In order to prevent any irregularities, applications for tenders will be issued at all district units and a quality assurance officer will be appointed to ensure quality of the works,” Sridhar said and added that engineers in the district unit will inspect the works.

State unit Executive Engineer Siddaramegowda, Assistant Executive Engineer Honnaiah, District Project Co-ordinator C Munnegowda, Ramachandra Reddy, N L Raghava and various other officers from the department participated in the programme.
