63 GPs to go for polls in Kundapur today

 Accordingly, the second phase of election in Udupi district will be held on Wednesday in Kundapur taluk. Kundapura taluk has 66 Gram Panchayats. Of which, 63 are going for polls on Wednesday.

The total number of seats in Kundapur is 825. There are 752 candidates in fray as 73 have been elected unanimously. The taluk has 2,24,252 voters. Of which, 1,02,054 are males and 1,72,924 are females. There are 258 polling booths in the taluk. Of which, 105 are sensitive and 64 are hyper sensitive. 53 election officers and 57 assistant officials have been deployed.

The Naxal infested areas of Amasebailu, Madamakki are some of the sensitive booths in the taluk, where the security has been beefed up. Two DySPs, 4 CCP/PIs, 50 PSIs, 91 head constables, 272 PCs, 212 Home Guards, 22 AHC, 132 APC, 80 armed police, 90 KSRP personnel have been deployed. As many as 38 mobile squads have been formed to check any irregularities.

Bhandarkar’s College and Junior College premises will be used for mustering and demustering centres.
