800 houses for slumdwellers

The chairman of the Board, J Narasimhaswamy, who visited the slums at Gandhi Nagar, Ashok Nagar and Anderson pet, assured the residents of providing infrastructure facilities like power, drainage and road to the localities.

Legislator Y Sampangi disclosed that a proposal has been submitted to the Board for construction of 5,000 houses for the benefit of slumdwellers in the next four years.
 Apart from this, a Rs 20 crore proposal for construction of houses and development of slums is pending before the government.  Funds would soon be released for the works and the proposal would benefit the slumdwellers. A programme has been formulated to impart literacy and generate employment opportunity for slumdwellers. The objective of the programme is to ensure basic amenities and comprehensive progress of slumdwellers, he revealed.

APMC president Dr Krishnamurthy, member Muniswamy Reddy, Kodanda, Suma, Municipal Commissioner R S Yarrappa, Assistant Executive Engineer Sridhar were present on the occasion.
