Unique Identity Authority of India (UIDAI) chairman Nandan Nilekani on Sunday said Aadhaar enrolment will be completed in Karnataka by March 2014.
Delivering the Sir M Visvesvaraya memorial lecture at Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha, he said about 50 per cent of the State’s population has been already enrolled under Aadhaar. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed to complete the remaining 50 per cent before March 31, 2014, he added.
The chief minister has also directed to bring Anna Bhagya scheme (rice at Re 1 per kg) under the Aadhaar project so that the scheme reaches the right people. Aadhaar project will benefit the poor the most as it ensures that all beneficiary oriented schemes reach them, he added.
He said the entire technology for Aadhaar project was developed in Bangalore. The City houses the world's biggest bio-metric platform under the project. Its data centre is also located in Bangalore. UIDAI utilised the best talent available in the City to implement the project, he added.

Governor H R Bhardwaj on Sunday conferred Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s (FKCCI) Sri M Visvesvaraya Memorial award 2013 on Kannada matinee idol late Rajkumar posthumously at a function organised in Vidhana Soudha. Parvathamma Rajkumar received the award.
Speaking at the function, Siddaramaiah said Visvesvaraya and Rajkumar were rare personalities who rendered yeoman service to society in their own fields. Family members of Rajkumar and a number of Kannada cine actors were present on the occasion.
