Announcing this to the media here on Sunday, Association of Concerned and Informed Citizens of Mysore (ACICM) convener M Lakshmana said that the government is reaping no benefit from the club. A fight is on demanding that 139 acres of land of the club has to be utilised for public purpose.

The authorities who have taken the said land on lease have been continuing, though the lease period expired 65 months ago. Though the previous deputy commissioner Harsh
Gupta made efforts to vacate the land, the then chief minister B S Yeddyurappa had stalled the move issuing a stay on it.

Continuing Lakshmana said a petition had also been filed in the high court, but in vain. Now with the change in chief ministership, the stay is also vacated.  He demanded the chief minister D V Sadanandagowda to intervene and take measures to vacate the land for either expansion of nearby Zoo or developing a botanical garden on the lines of Ooty.
