Addressing reporters here, the actor said he was very much pained by the poor financial status of the prisoners, some of whom were even unable to pay for their release. “I want to help such people,” he said.
Producer Sandesh Nagaraj said he too will donate about Rs one lakh for the cause.
While shooting a film in jail a few months ago, Vijay had got released a few prisoners by paying money from his pocket.
This is for the second time he is coming forward to help the prisoners.
