Speaking after inaugurating newly built Kadri fire service station at Kuntikana near here, he said Mangalore has highly sensitive industries like BASF, MRPL. Industries in  SEZ will come up soon. We need to introspect on how far we have succeeded in facing the fire mishaps in the district, he added.

In majority of the high rise buildings, the building owners have not left setback area. By following the National Building Code, majority of the fire mishap can be averted.
Fire service IGP P S Sandhu said land has been sanctioned for the setting up of fire service station at Bantwal taluk. The work on the new building will commence soon. There are 156 fire service stations in Karnataka. The department plans to set up additional 51 stations. Mangalore will be given priority. Equipments related to mist technolgies and water browser will be purchased.

Coastal Development Authority President B Nagaraj Shetty, IGP (Western range) Gopal Hosur, Deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj, Superintendent of Police Dr Subrahmanyeshwara Rao, and others were present.
Kadri fire station was built at an estimated cost of Rs 1.42 crore.
