Bengaluru: Adivasis of Nagarahole villages will hold a meeting on Jan 2 to demand answers from the government and forest department over their forced dislocation from the forests.

The meeting at Nagarahole’s Udburu Gate comes at the end of the 15-day padayatra through 29 villages, during which leaders of Adivasi communities reached out to people there to create awareness on the importance of getting their rights to ancestral lands.

The gram sabhas have demanded that during the Jan 2 protest, the DCs of Kodagu and Mysuru districts, as well as the state chief secretary, also the chairperson of state-level monitoring committee on forest rights, respond to questions raised by adivasis on historical injustice in Nagarahole.
