Admit children under RTE quota: HC
DHNS
Last Updated IST

The High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday directed St Mira’s School in Rajajinagar to admit students seeking admission under Right to Education (RTE) quota during this academic year.

A few parents had moved the court alleging that the school was refusing to admit children under the RTE quota despite the block education officer approving the list of the selected children. They claimed that the school was reluctant to admit children after it obtained a certificate from National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions.

The school claimed that it does not come under the purview of the RTE since it enjoys the status of a minority institution as per the directions of the Supreme Court.

Justice Ashok B Hinchigeri directed the school to admit the students for the present academic year, but the order shall not be applicable from the next academic year.
