The Advocates’ Association of Bangalore (AAB), which conducted a special meeting on Monday, decided to support the agitation planned by the Cauvery Hitarakshana Samiti against the directive of the Cauvery River Authority (CRA) chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, to release 9,000 cusec daily to Tamil Nadu.

Members of the Association demanded that the Prime Minister withdraw the directive. They said they would submit a  memorandum to the Governor.

“There is shortage of rainfall in the Cauvery basin and water levels are already low in the reservoirs here. The State government should not release water to Tamil Nadu.

We extend full support to the protest launched by G Madegowda, president of the Cauvery Hitarakshana Samiti,” members of the AAB said.
