The accused moved two separate petitions pleading the CBI special court to grant them bail, while the investigating agency has expressed apprehensions that the influential BJP leader from Karnataka might influence the investigation.

Even though the court was supposed to hear both the sides over the bail petition and as well as the custody petition filed by the CBI, advocates stayed away from their duties.
N Anupama, junior counsel for the accused, appealed to the special court to postpone the hearing till Monday as the senior counsel will not able to attend the court due to his prior occupation at the Supreme Court.

However, the plea was rejected by the court on the ground that it cannot wait for more days and posted the hearing for Friday.
