Mysuru: Members of Ahinda Sangatanegalu (Ahinda Organisations) launched a letter campaign in Mysuru, on Wednesday, urging Opposition Leader in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, to declare Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for the full five-year term.
The organisations in the home-town of Siddaramaiah, Mysuru, members of various Ahinda organisations posted the letters, led by Karnataka State Backward Classes Awareness Forum president K S Shivaramu, addressed to Rahul Gandhi. Ahinda is an acronym for Alpasankyatha (minorities), Hindulida (backward) and Dalit (Scheduled Castes), coined by Siddaramaiah in 2005.
The petition mentions that the Congress won 135 Assembly seats in the 2023 poll under the leadership of Siddaramaiah, an unrivalled leader and a strong voice of the oppressed communities and the identity of the Ahinda communities, leading to the formation of the Congress government in Karnataka, once again.
“Earlier also, the Congress ruled Karnataka by trusting the leadership of Siddaramaiah. The people of all oppressed communities have stood firmly with the Congress, since then. In future also, the oppressed communities will support the Congress in Karnataka and they see Rahul Gandhi as the prime minister,” the petition stated.
“The reason for the strong base of the Congress in Karanataka is the administration of Siddaramaiah, his management of the Guarantee Schemes, his concern for Ahinda communities, his ideology of social justice, his contributions for the exploited communities, and his belief in equality for all. In 2023, Siddaramaiah was elected as the leader of the legislative party for five years. But, the opposition parties – BJP and JD(S) – are involved in propaganda on the issue of the chief minister’s post, now. They are creating confusion among the people, by saying that the CM will be changed. Some Congress leaders also voice similar issues,” the petition stated.
The Ahinda representatives have sought an appointment with Rahul Gandhi, to take a delegation to meet him and explain the issue.
District Kumbara (Potters) Association president H S Prakash, District Madivala (Washermen) Association president Raveenandan, District Uppara (Salt Workers) Association president Yogesh Uppar, Dalit Mahasabha president Rajesh, state convenor of Dalit Sangharsha Samithi Devagalli Somashekhar, Rajashekhar, F M Kaleem, Raheem Khan, Mohammed Ali, Lokesh Kumar, Harish Moganna, Manjula Manjunath, Chhaya Anil, Ningaraju, Sunil, Narayan, Nazarbad Dinesh, Shimsha Mahesh, Santosh Kiral, Kalegowda, Appu Gowda, and Kurubaralli Prakash were present.
