The city-based All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) has recently signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gurgaon-based Sun Renewables to implement a rooftop solar power plant.

The Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) has set a target for achieving 1 lakh MW as India's solar power capacity by 2022.

To achieve this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed expeditious installation of rooftop solar projects on government buildings.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has initiated the installation of rooftop solar power plants on all buildings of its institutions and offices.

Under this programme, AIISH has been allocated a 472 kWh (Kilo Watt hour) grid-connected rooftop solar power system.

The project is being implemented at AIISH by NTPC Vidyuth Vyapar Nigam Limited, through Sun Renewables. The implementing agency
has completed all ground work for implementation of the project.

This project, under RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) model, would be investor owned and is expected to be completed by August 2018.
