Singapore will be the first South East Asian international destination from Mangaluru International Airport. All international destinations thus far have been to the Middle East and Saudi from Mangaluru airport.

In addition, from February 1, Air India Express will connect Mangaluru to Delhi with daily flights. Further, Air India Express will operate two direct flights between Mangaluru and Pune on every Saturday shortly.

In his X handle, DK MP Capt Brijesh Chowta posted "Wonderful to know that in the new year we will have two direct flights between Mangaluru and Singapore, operated by @AirIndiaX, along with two new flights each connecting us to Pune and Delhi."

"There have been multiple requests for better direct air connectivity between Mangaluru and Changi - highlighting which, I had also written to the Minister of Civil Aviation to enable the same. In this direction, the new flights between Mangaluru and Changi, bring good news and should encourage more providers to offer the same. This will enable ease of travel for business and aligns with the Act East policy of our Union Government led by Prime Minister, that is aimed at connecting India with ASEAN and East Asian nations. On this occasion, I also nudge Mangaloreans based in Singapore to think of coming #BackToOoru and investing in Mangaluru," the post said.
