<p>Mangaluru: The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) welcomed MS Silver Whisper, the first cruise vessel of the season, at Berth No 4 on Tuesday. The luxury Bahamian-flagged ship arrived from Mumbai, carrying 299 passengers and 296 crew members on board.</p><p>Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan M P presented a commemorative plaque to the ship's captain, symbolising the region’s hospitality. S Shanthi, Deputy Chairperson, NMPA, along with other dignitaries, graced the occasion. </p><p>MS Silver Whisper, a prestigious vessel in the Silver Cruises fleet, boasts a length of 186 meters, a draft of 6.20 meters, and a gross tonnage of 28,258. The ship is on an international itinerary, covering Cape Town, Mumbai, New Mangaluru Port, Colombo, and beyond, offering travelers a unique voyage experience.</p>.Mangaluru NGO White Doves reunites man with family in Chhattisgarh after 14 years.<p>Upon disembarking, passengers were greeted with a traditional Indian welcome and captivated by a mesmerising Bharatanatyam performance, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage. </p><p>Passengers also explored the cultural treasures of Dakshina Kannada, including visits to iconic sites such as the 1000 Pillar Basadi in Moodbidri, Kadri Manjunatha Temple, St Aloysius Chapel, and the Artisan Village in Pilikula.</p><p>NMPA ensured a seamless experience for passengers with its state-of-the-art facilities, including 14 immigration counters, two customs counters, medical screening facilities, and a range of conveniences such as transportation options, a Ministry of AYUSH meditation centre, and a selfie stand depicting “Yakshagana” by the Ministry of Tourism.</p><p>It may be recalled that nine cruises had called at the port during 2023-24 and about 5300 passengers had visited Mangaluru. The cruise season normally goes until May.</p>
