The High Court has orally observed that the State government should allow private schools to impart education in English medium as it would otherwise be difficult for the children when they pass out and go to the next class.

While hearing a petition filed by Associated Managements of Government Recognised English Medium Schools in Karnataka, Justice B V Nagarathna said that ICSE and CBSE schools were permitted by the State government to impart education in English medium.

In the light of the order of the Constitution bench of the Supreme Court, to impart education in English medium with Kannada as one subject, it would be better if the State government allowed other privates schools as well to do so, the court said.

The bench allowed an interlocutory application filed by advocate G R Mohan, who had sought amending of the prayer in a petition seeking that the government order dated November 11, 2014 - which does not permit English as the medium of instruction from Class I to V - be quashed.
