Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya on Thursday was given a traditional welcome at a Siddi colony in the taluk where he will be spending the New Year Day.
The minister, who heard the grievances of the residents, addressed some problems on the spot. Later, he had traditional food at the colony.
The house where the minister will spend his New Year Day was renovated by constructing modern toilets and bathroom. Anjaneya is expected to declare a special package for the welfare of Siddi community on Friday.
Speaking to reporters, the minister said that last year, spend the New Year Day at a hamlet in Kollegal taluk of Chamarajanagar district.
“I had declared a welfare package for the hamlet. However, the work is hampered as the hamlet comes under reserve forest range,” Anjaneya said.
