The rising number of Covid cases among the students of government schools has caused anxiety among the parents, in Srirangapatna taluk, Mandya district. As a result, the number of students attending the schools has seen a decline.

The students of Naguvanahalli, K Shettahalli and other schools have tested positive for Covid. Three students each from Naguvanahalli and K Shettahalli government schools have tested positive, according to Block Education Officer M R Anantharaju. An eighth standard student of Karnataka Public School in Arakere, in the taluk too has tested positive.

More than 15 people have tested positive in M Shettahalli. The government primary and high schools have been closed. BEO Anantharaju and education coordinator Pratibha have been visiting the schools and advising the students to follow Covid precautions.

Health officer S D Bannur said, "The health personnel of the primary health centres of the respective region are paying visits to the schools every day to ensure there are no students with symptoms of Covid."
