Speaking to presspersons after visiting Puttur APMC, he said “Chief Minister has agreed in-principle to announce support price for the benefit of arecanut growers in the district.
The revolving fund of the APMC will be used for support price. The department will stand by the farmers.”
“We will give priority to the construction of shanty in Puttur. Nabard help will be sought for the purpose. He assured to fill the post of drivers lying vacant in Puttur APMC. A sum of Rs 12 lakh subsidy pending to be released to Puttur APMC will be released soon,” he added.
The Minister gave his nod for opening of APMC sub market in Panaje. e-tender system will be implemented soon. A fine will be slapped on those merchants who do not make use of electronic weighing machines after July 7, he warned.
As part of e-governance project of the State government, all the APMCs will be computerised step by step. This will help in solving the problem of shortage of staff as well as sending an instant message.
Speaking after inaugurating electronic display board at Sullia APMC yard, he said: “We have a target to collect Rs 255 crore tax. Sullia APMC has failed to reach the target.”
A sum of Rs 4.7 crore has been spent for the e-tendering facility in 25 APMCs. The facility will be included in the remaining 25 APMCs, he added.
