Lingaraju (16), a resident of the Best Hostel wanted the lights to be on throughout the night to prepare for examination.
That led to an argument with Kenchappa Pujari (17) and Vishal.
During the row, Lingaraju who attacked by Vishal brutally sustained severe injuries.
He was admitted to VIMS Hospital, where he died of injuries. Vishal is absconding.
Lingaraju was from Manahalli village in Gulbarga district.
