Arrested suspected Naxals raise slogans in favour of Maoists

Police requested the court for 180 days custody of the accused for further interrogation. Judge Arjun Mallur of second JMFC has remanded the accused to 15 days police custody. Advocate Esur Lokesh, who argued for the defence, told reporters that the accused were handed over to the police with the caution against committing excess during interrogation.

Cases are registered under section 10, 12 and 13 of Unlawful Activities Act 1967 against the accused for provoking revolutionary activities against the State.

The accused have alleged before the judge that they were arrested by the police at Banasawadi in Bangalore on November 14 itself and subjected to harassment. Earlier in the day, they were produced before the judge at 6 am. The judge asked the police to bring the accused to the open Court.

During entering the court as well as at the time of exit, Devendrappa raised slogans in favour of Maoist movement. Asha and Gangamma joined him in the chorus. The arrested were brought to the court amidst tight security.
