Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi committee members have met Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Dr T C Shivshankarmurthy and submitted a memorandum requesting to start masters degree in fine arts (MFA).

Artists said that though a few private colleges have started Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA) or Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), there is no scope to study masters, in the district.
The students have to depend on Dharwad, Gulbarga, Mysore, Bangalore, Shantiniketana or Baroda universities.

As a result, students hailing poor background are not in a position to pursue their masters degree.

Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi President Koti Prasad Alva, honourary secretary B Ganesh Somayaaji, secretary Dinesh Holla and organising Secretary Rajendra Kedige were present.
