The government has dismissed B V Jayanth, a polytechnic college instructor in Hassan, who was earlier suspended for trying to “bribe” Governor H R Bhardwaj.
B V Jayanth, who has levelled allegations against Department of Technical Education for transferring him “in violation of norms,” had written a letter to the governor about corrupt practices in the department.
According to Jayanth, he sent a cheque for Rs one lakh along with the letter, urging the governor either to stop corruption or forward the cheque to the undersecretary to Higher Education Department (who allegedly demanded a bribe). However, Jayanth was later suspended for trying to “bribe” the governor.
On February 25, 2014, Director of Technical Education (DTE) H U Talawar issued directions for his dismissal. The order notes that the said act (sending cheque to the governor), by the instructor amounts to “gross misconduct”.
“I have not handed over charge in Chikmagalur to this day because the transfer was done flouting norms. The officials created false documents saying that I had handed over charge. They have fabricated several documents. How can they now dismiss me?” Jayanth told Deccan Herald adding that he would appeal before the Supreme Court.
