Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal told Deccan Herald that the procedures to transfer the case to the Channapatna police in Ramanagara district for further investigation is also on.

Although traumatised, the woman intends to stay back in the city for a couple of days. She also wanted that her parents should not be informed about the incident as it would traumatised them even more, the officer said.

Illegal confinement

Vishwas and Shrunkal Gowda from Channapatna were arrested by Mysore police on June 27 for illegally confining and raping the woman.

The 24-year-old Australian woman, who had arrived in the city on a three-month tourist visa on June 10, had rented a house in Chamarajapuram. Vishwas, who could speak English well, befriended her and managed to get her mobile number.

On the morning of June 24, the woman was preparing to board a bus to Bangalore to meet a compatriot, when she got a phone call from Vishwas. He told her he was travelling to Bangalore in his car and convinced her to accompany him. The woman agreed and on the way, at Channapatna, Vishwas and Shrunkal, his friend, raped her in a lodge.
