The state government on Thursday formally announced that its flagship Arogya Karnataka and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet Ayushman Bharat universal health coverage schemes had been integrated.
“An agreement was signed between the state and Centre on October 30, but it was not announced because the election model code of conduct was in place,” Medical Education Minister D K Shivakumar told a news conference.
Shivakumar said 1,614 procedures or treatment packages will be available for citizens under the Ayushman Bharat-Arogya Karnataka integrated scheme. “This includes diagnostics or tests,” he said.
A total of 916 hospitals - 531 private and 385 government - have been empanelled to provide healthcare under the integrated scheme, Shivakumar said.
“We have set up a public grievance system to address complaints,” he said.
As many as 4.40 crore people or 1.20 crore households, will be covered under the scheme. While BPL card holders will get an annual coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh, APL card holders will get up to
Rs 1.5 lakh, he said.
