Demanding immediate arrest of MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi and his supporters for pelting stones at KPCC president D K Shivakumar’s car, Congress workers, led by former MLA Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, staged a protest by forming a human chain on Bengaluru-Mysuru highway, on Monday.

Traffic was affected for a while, as the protesters blocked the road and staged a protest for an hour. They raised slogans against the BJP government, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Ramesh Jarkiholi.

Claiming that the stone pelting incident was instigated by the former minister, Ramesh Bandisiddegowda criticised the government for not taking the issue seriously.

“Both the CM and the home minister have exhibited their helplessness. The government has failed to take action against Jarkiholi, who is facing serious allegations of rape and cheating. There is no proper law and order in the state. Even when there is blatant violation of law, no action is taken,” he said.
