Bail pleas of Janardhana Reddy, two others rejected

The bail applications of former minister and mining baron G Janardhana Reddy and two others, arrested in an illegal mining case, were today rejected by a CBI court here.

Judge B M Angadi rejected the bail pleas of Reddy, his aide Mehfuz Ali Khan and then Range Forest Officer (RFO) of Sandur Taluk, Mahesh Patil in the illegal mining case involving Associate Mining Corporation (AMC) owned by him.

The court had already rejected the bail pleas of the other two accused, S Muthaiah, the then Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF), Bellary District and S P Raju, the then Director Mines and Geology, and they have moved the Karnataka High Court.

Earlier, in the day the CBI court extended till October 12, the judicial custody of all the five accused.

Barring Reddy all the other four accused were produced before the court through video conferencing from Parappana Agrahara jail where they are lodged.

Reddy has been taken to Hyderabad in connection with cash-for-bail scam case.
