Bananas turn dearer, greens cheaper

The greens, especially coriander leaves which were sold at Rs 8 to Rs 10 per bunch has come down. Now, around five bunches of greens are available for Rs 10.

Tomatoes, which had almost reached Rs 100 mark has come down and is sold at Rs 35 per kg. With severe drought in the region, the farmers were finding it difficult to grow vegetables, with only a few farmers with borewells cultivating beans and tomatoes.

Beans, which was sold for Rs 28 to 30 is now sold at Rs 23 per kg. However, the prices of beetroot, carrot and other vegetables are stable.

Eggs

The eggs which were sold at Rs 3.50 per piece has shown an upward trend. It was sold at Rs 3.65 on Monday. The chicken prices are stable and is sold at Rs 75 per kg.
Banana

However, the prices of bananas has increased from Varamahalakshmi festival. While the ‘elakki’ variety is sold at Rs 80 per kg, the green banana variety is sold at Rs 40 per kg.
