Various religious programmes will be started with the installation of Kalasha at Banashankari temple on November 17 morning.

In the evening, the statue of the goddess will be anointed (Kshirabhisheka) with milk and then embellished with flowers and jewellry.

Festive fervour

The village will be decorated with ‘Thorana’ (embellishments made from mango leaves) and at 10 pm, the statue of the goddess will be taken out on a procession in a chariot in all major streets of the village.

Committee Secretary H P Raju said that the procession will be done almost in the same model as Madikeri Dasara. Tableaux and cracker shows will add to the beauty of the procession, he added.

The devotees will walk over to the temple crossing pit filled with live charcoal as part of their vows after the statue of the goddess arrives at the temple after the procession.
On November 18, devotees will offer Devi Puja at the temple.
