The bandh called to protest the removal of D V Sadananda Gowda as chief minister was partially successful in the city, while it was a total success in Malavalli, Maddur and Pandavapura taluks of Mandya district on Wednesday.
Shops and business establishments remained closed in since morning.
There was sparse vehicular traffic on the roads. Some schools and colleges declared a holiday as a precautionary measure.
Theatres had suspended morning shows. Members of the Swabhimani Vokkaligara Seva Okkuta forced shopkeepers to down their shutters in many places.
