Chamarajanagar Deputy Commissioner Manojkumar Meena told Deccan Herald that the High Court had upheld the order passed by the district administration regarding the ban on vehicular movement on the two national highways.

The authorities have already held discussions with the deputy conservator of forests and the superintendent of police to fix alternative routes.

Accordingly, the journey to Ooty will now be via Gundlupet. Likewise, those going to Sultan Battery from Mysore will go via Hunsur, Ponnampet and Kalpetta. In the interests of passengers, two vehicles each from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka will be allowed to pass through the national park after 9 pm from both directions.
