The tree, considered to be oxygen factory has been a  witness to the ups and down of the village. However, the residents are ready to axe the tree to collect the necessary funds required to construct a temple amidst opposition.

Some feel that the construction could have been taken up later, after collecting sufficient funds by other means and spare the tree.

Banyan, which is the national tree, is useful for the environment. It takes more than a century for the tree to mature, but only a few minutes to cut it and clear it, remark passerby.
