Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda said the Palike had utilised the GIM forum for attracting investors for the development of civic infrastructure in the City.

Participating in a session on housing and development, organised at the GIM, Gowda said that toilets were very essential for cities, but there were very few players who were interested in investing in this project. The BBMP has called for expression of interest for construction of 1,000 toilets through GIM, and that it had also put forth projects like construction of 22 skywalks and revamping of markets in the City through PPP module.

In order to scientifically manage the municipal solid waste, BBMP is looking forward for private investments for segregation and disposal of waste. The investors can also set up plants to generate power from the waste generated in the City. The City supplies adequate input required for power generation, as it produces 5,000 MT of solid waste on a daily basis, he added.
