Bharati Defence and Infrastructure Ltd (BDIL), Mangaluru yard, created history on November 10, when it delivered the fifth series out of 15 high speed interceptor boats to the Indian Coast Guard.
The delivery took place in the august presence of the Principal Director Materials DIG H P Singh, CGRPS Goa DIG Atul Parlikar and other senior officials of the Indian Coast Guard.
BDIL was represented by DIG (Retd) Narendra Kumar, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Vijay Pasupaty, Director (E&Y) Pavithran Alokkan, President and Head Shipyard Mangaluru yard Mahesh M N and others.
The vessel is 28 metres long, constructed out of aluminium hull, weighs about 60 tonnes and is designed for speed of up to 35 knots. It is fitted with new generation Arneson Surface Drive (ASD) from Twin Disc USA, which is propelled by two engines of 1650 KW each. The vessel can accommodate 11 member crew and is used mainly for patrolling the Indian Coast.
BDIL is one of the first cases to be admitted into the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) under the insolvency and Bankruptcy code 2016 (IBC).
