Basavaraju (76) was on his way to the farm house at around 6:30 am when a bear pounced on him and bit his throat. He died on the spot.
Villagers said, of late, the incidents of fatal attacks on people by wild animals have increased. A few months ago, a person was killed by a leopard and recently a woman had sustained serious injuries after attacked by a bear.
