The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy on Thursday conferred lifetime achievement award on 10 film personalities.
The awardees are: S K Padmadevi (acting); Joe Simon (direction); H N Muddukrishna (production); Rathnam (music); B A Madhu (songs/dialogue); B S Basavaraju (cinematography); Babji (exhibitor); Armugam (technology); Jai Jagadish (villain role) and Richard Castelino (regional language).
The awards, named after prominent film personalities, carry a purse of Rs 50,000 and a certificate.Speaking on the occasion, Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree said that there was a need to digitise old films and documents pertaining to Kannada film industry so as to preserve them for future generation.
Writer and director Baragur Ramachandrappa, Housing Minister M H Ambareesh, actor Darshan and others were present on the occasion.
