The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Saturday launched the 1,000th segmental span of the Namma Metro project.
The land span was erected between piers 391 and 392 on Mysore Road along Reach-2 (Leprosy Hospital on Magadi Road to Mysore Road) of phase-1 of the project.
The BMRCL officials said out of the 1,071 segmental spans under Phase-1, work on 1,000 spans have been completed now. An official of the Corporation explained that 24 launchers by eight different contractor partners worked during the peak period of launching the segments.
He added that the landmark span launch came after four years and four months of launching the first span on M G Road in September 2008.
