Officials from the Transport department seized 101 private vehicles on Thursday for various permit violations at Central Silk Board Junction.

During the hour-long drive that started in the morning, officials seized the vehicles as they were illegally operating, picking passengers on BMTC bus routes.

Much to the annoyance of hundreds of office-goers, who were travelling in these vehicles, the team led by the Joint commissioner Narendra Holkar, along with inspectors from the transport department, cracked the whip.

The passengers in these vehicles had to catch autos, cabs and buses to reach their destinations.

Officials said these vehicles had no business carrying passengers since most of them were attached to various companies for ferrying their staff. But in gross violation, they were operating point to point services illegally, said an official.
