As many as 10,500 volunteers have registered with Zonal Coordination Committee of Karnataka for Organ Transplantation (ZCCK), according to Health Minister U T Khader.
Replying to a query on organ donation by Congress MLC Jayamala in the Legislative Council on Monday, Khader said that as many as 2,410 patients were awaiting organs. He said that 68 brain-dead patients had donated their organs since 2015, while the number recipients stood at 336. The minister said that 192 government hospitals and 74 private hospitals had been empanelled under the Mukhyamantri Santwana - Harish scheme for accident victims.
