The Hulimavu police arrested 16 persons in connection with the murder of their rival gang member.
The suspects had murdered Shivakempegowda while he was riding bike with his friend Kiran Kumar as pillion near Jnana Jyothi School on Chunchaghatta Main Road on the evening of December 1. Kiran Kumar had also suffered injuries in the attack.
The suspects waylaid the duo, abducted Shivakempegowda and took him to a secluded place near Vysya Bank Colony and hacked him to death, said the police.
Shivakempegowda was an anti-social element and shared rivalry with Umesh M. The police acted on definite tips and arrested suspects.
