No casualties were reported.

The fire department received an alert at 7:45 am about the blaze in the basement of a commercial building in Yelachenahalli off Kanakapura Road. Two fire tenders were immediately deployed, and the flames were doused after several hours.

A senior fire officer said they suspect the blaze originated in the basement,  which was used as a showroom for electric vehicles.

"The fire may have originated from one of the EV charging points and then rapidly spread in the area,” the officer said.

An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause.
