Two bike-borne engineering students were killed on the spot after being run over by a speeding gas tanker in Banaswadi traffic police limits in the City on Friday morning.

 

The deceased have been identified as Jarald Xavier S and Krishan R, both 19 and students of at East Point College of Engineering and Technology at HRBR Layout in Kalyan Nagar.

According to the police, Xavier was riding the bike, while Krishan was riding pillion, at around 7.40 am near Gandhi Statue on Horamavu Main Road, when a speeding tanker tried to overtake the bike.

Xavier and Krishna fell down on the road after the tanker rammed the bike and came under the wheels of the vehicle.  The tanker driver fled the spot, said the police. A few local residents rushed the men to a nearby hospital but doctors declared them dead on arrival, said the police. The tanker has been seized by the Banaswadi traffic police.

Jarald Xavier S and Krishan R hailed from Kerala and were staying at Kammanahalli. They were first semester students. A case has been registered.
