According to a complaint lodged by the parlour owner, Vinutha Sathish, the security guard was on duty on Monday night.
The theft came to light on Tuesday morning, when she found the valuables missing. The guard is absconding.
In another incident in Sadashivanagar, thieves struck at the house of Pawan Kumar, a priest at the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam, and made away with valuables worth Rs 2 lakh, including gold ornaments and Rs 40,000.
Police said that the theft happened on Monday night. Kumar’s family was out of town since Saturday.
