2,554 motorists caught for drunk driving at weekend

The traffic police booked as many as 2,554 motorists for drunk driving  at the weekend. Most of the riders were caught in Majestic, MG Road and the surrounding areas as part of a special drive that started around 9 pm on both days.  

Police said they had written to the Transport Department to cancel at least 120 driving licences.  

The special drive was undertaken in the following police station limits:  

Cubbon Park, High Grounds, Sadashivanagar, Halasuru Gate, Ashoknagar, Wilson Garden, Halasuru, Jeevan Bima Nagar, KR Puram, Pulakeshi Nagar, Banaswadi, Shivajinagar, KG Halli, Adugodi, Madiwala, Electronics City, Old Airport, Whitefield, Hulimavu, HSR Layout, Magadi Road, Vijayanagar, Byatarayanapura, Kamakshi Palya, Kengeri, Malleswaram, Rajajinagar, Yeshwantpur, Peenya, Jalahalli, VV Puram, Basavanagudi, Jayanagar, Banashankari and Kumaraswamy  Layout.
